AMP Goggles Profile
Here we have a detailed rendition of the AMP goggles I've designed and modeled few weeks back for my character design and development class. I dedicated a day experimenting with different shaders and lighting set-ups using Vray and finally was able to come up with something I'm satisfied with. Super stoked on how it turned out, looked better than I envisioned it!

holyyy crud you're only a year younger than me and you can do such DETAILED work with awesome composition!! I'm really curious about your process, do you overlay textures a lot..?

Read your profile, I take it you're from NYP? I actually wanted to study Game Art or Animation there, but *cough no thanks to my parents* they had little faith in these industries here and told me to choose between JC or graphic design ... I chose the latter but I hated my three years at TP Communication Design. It's a good course but it's simply not where my interest lies in, which is game art. Now that I've graduated, I applied to Digipen in hopes of getting closer to pursuing my dream career haha. Awaiting response from them.

Anyway keep up the good work!! It's good ya got freelance gigs and connections this early!

Hey Jemi and thanks for the compliment! :) LOL! Age doesn't dictate how good you can be, as long as you have the passion and hunger for it, hell you can be like 10 and be on par with people in the industry for all I know. Well, the way how I work varies depending on the type of genre, setting and scope but regardless of how I approach them, I'd always use photos for texturing. It's a technique I've come to love and use a lot ever since I first heard of it but sometimes it can be hard to manipulate them to fit into your painting.

Yup, you've guessed right, I'm from NYP. Sorry to hear that you couldn't pursue something you're keen to learn, I actually faced a similar situation with my parents before I enrolled into the school. I wanted to become a fine artist studying in an art institute but my parents went against it for similar reasons as yours but strangely enough, they agreed to let me study game art because it's 'digital'. To be brutally honest with you, the course really isn't gonna help you get far into the industry unless you're really good, I'd rather opt out and learn everything by myself, given the chance. The stuff on the internet could offer SO much more ( like Art Camp from Noah Bradley and Learn Squared by Marciej) and it's a cheaper alternative to school.

Digipen? Did your parents finally give in haha? Well, I can't have a say in Digipen cus well I haven't been there but I'm not intending to pursue a degree there simply because it's too long (3/4 years i think). I'll probably enroll in FZD( 1 year course) after I graduate.

Ah I see I see!

It's a lil comforting to know that my parents aren't the only ones around who think that way hahaha. Lol conversely, my mom was hoping for me to study traditional fine art (like even moreso than graphic design) which I opposed to because I felt I wasn't good enough at the time and I really was more into digital xD

Mmm I wouldn't say my parents finally gave in, more like I proved to them that I still was passionate about the field haha. Personally since I've not had the diploma education like you did (and I don't have NS haha) I'm more in favour of full-time uni studies. But FZD's a good choice if you really know the area of focus you want to work in  Ah Noah Bradley and Learn Squared, I've heard of these names around before. I agree that a lot can me learnt own your own online that are cheaper alternatives to school, but I guess I kinda want the learning environment of being around peers to check in with and having teachers to keep me on the right track haha. (the only things I do NOT look forward to are deadlines and late nights ahahaha but I hope the all-nighters from my diploma course prepared me enough haha)

Trust me, most if not all asian parents are like that, I'm just glad my parents allowed me to study the field.

Yeah, having to serve the army is such a bummer like really? That's 2 YEARS, I could've done so much for that length of time! This is also part of the reason why I'm trying to go the extra mile to learn on my own, get good enough to get employed for a project while studying and build a decent portfolio that could appeal to the western market by the time I graduate. Yup, learning from the net is such a huge privilege to have these days especially those instructed by the masters who really knows their stuff, I'd picked that over my classes here at NYP anytime.

Deadlines and late nights? Don't worry you'll get plenty of those, I hope you're ready for it haha
Anyways, good to know things are going well on your end, I wish you luck!

Your art work is stunning, I hope you end up being sought after in marketing industries
to make movie posters and book covers, etc. I am amazed by the amount of detail you put into each piece. Keep it up my friend, you'll be going places :D Nod :happybounce:

One word of advise, raise the price of your commissions. Your art is worth a lot more than 250 points :)
